Description:
Egg Casket with Double perfumes with polished glass bottoms with ornate brass hinged top. Each perfume has a small glass dobber inside the hinged top. The perfumes are octaginal in shape. The holder is set on an alabaster base with highly ornate brass twisted into a bird nest. See pictures. There are flowers and vines adorning the nest as it holds the treasured egg. The egg is black with a hand painted basket of flowers on each side. The egg is hinged and opens when pressing down on the top of the piece. The top of the piece is ornately designed leaves that are attached to the closure rod going down through the middle of the perfumes and the egg. Each half of the egg has a bar applied that latches to the center rod upon closing to conceal the perfumes. When the egg is closed, one depresses the top of the holder and the egg opens revealing the two perfumes inside. Awesome craftsmanship and design. The alabaster base has green felt applied which we did not remove in search of a mark. The entire piece is 8 3/4" in height. The alabaster base is 3 1/2" in diameter and 3/4" thick. The egg itself is approximately 3 1/2"L x 2 3/4"W. Age unknown. Best Guess 1910's.
